The past month has presented challenges. After I finished my half marathon in October I found it hard to keep the momentum going. I let life’s circumstances get in the way of what is important to me…training.
I didn’t stop training but it wasn’t as consistent as I would have liked. I started getting frustrated and impatient with myself. As I told a client today, “You can either stay in the frustration or you can use it as fuel to make changes”. I am making changes.
Having a goal is vital to my motivation. There are many reasons why I train but I especially like training for a specific event. I am proud to say that I walked a half marathon last month. Next October, I plan to run it. That gives me 11 months to break it down to smaller goals. My first goal is to run a 5k by January. My second goal is to run a 10k by March. Then I will have 6 months to build up to 13.1 miles.
Today I got up early, got my workout done and it felt great! There will be challenges ahead so I will need to focus on the small goals and achievements to progress to the ultimate goal of running 13.1 miles.
